Melbourne's December 2006 Welcome Activity:
Cherry/Strawberry Picking Trip
On 16 December 2006, IDP Melbourne Student Service Office
organised a cherry/strawberry picking trip for overseas students.
This activity was very successful and greatly welcomed by the 45
students from more than 6 countries and districts who joined the
trip.
Before departure, each student
was given a gift pack which included a bag with IDP logo, a water
bottle and some other small gifts. The students were very happy to
receive these gifts. On the way to Redhill, Jason and Kwanta made a
brief introduction of IDP for the students and organised a quick
quiz and prize for them
When they arrived at the cherry and strawberry farm, the
students were very excited because most of them had only arrived in
Melbourne just one month ago and it was a totally fresh experience
for them. One student from Korea said he was very happy to have the
chance to relax as well as to get to know so many other
international students.
Almost every student left the farm with full boxes of cherries
and strawberries and were then provided with lunch at Mornington
Beach. All the students said they felt very satisfied with this
trip.
When Jason announced that IDP Melbourne Student Service Office
would organise another two functions for international students in
the near future, many students said they were very interested in
these activities and would pass on the information to their
friends. Jason expressed thanks for the students’ participation and
told them they were always welcome at IDP who will keep providing a
better service for them.
